Dedicated Micros - part of AD Group - has announced the launch of a new Managed Storage Unit (MSU) to deliver high-capacity, external storage, with advanced features built-in such as power management and environmental control of individual disks.The Managed Storage Unit (MSU) has been designed to offer increased video storage - up to 5TB per unit - for compatible Dedicated Micros' NetVu Connected Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) and Network Digital Video Recorders (NDVRs) fitted with external SATA connectors, including the DV-IP RT, HighVu Excel, SD Range, DV-IP HD and DV-IP Express.Using a combination of continuous monitoring and environmental control, the MSU is able to ensure that disks are individually monitored and cooled to optimise operating conditions. Crucially, an intelligent power management capability ensures that disks are only in operation when access is actually required.Said Pauline Norstrom, Director of Worldwide Marketing at Dedicated Micros: "With the new MSU we have taken a considered, pro-active, approach to storage management.
